ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Moses (he/him) is one of the most experienced fact-checkers in Indonesia. He oversees the general operation of Pantau Hoaks, including heading the Editorial Board currently composed of experienced media experts on voluntary basis.
In 2018, he was recruited by Agence France-Presse (AFP) for a digital verification journalist position in its Jakarta bureau, becoming the first-ever fact-checker who publishes English-language debunks in the country. He worked at AFP until October 2023 before finally founding Pantau Hoaks.
He holds a Cyber Investigation certificate from the Global Investigative Journalism Network (GIJN), after being selected for the organization’s “Digital Threats” intensive workshop in 2023. He has conducted Media and Information Literacy workshops for various entities in Indonesia, ranging from government fact-checkers and climate scientists to indigenous storytellers and university students in the world’s fourth-biggest democracy.
His op-eds and expert commentaries on Indonesian disinformation and media literacy have appeared on domestic and international publications, such as BBC Indonesia, Jawa Pos and Indonesia at Melbourne.
Academically, he has won two prestigious scholarships: Chevening Awards and Australia Awards.
